Beautiful and Dramatic! These words best describe Rob and Geneva's May 23rd wedding at The Ritz-Carlton Grande Lakes. From the contrasting white ceremony to the dramatic black decor of the reception, it was definitely a unique and spectacular event.

Damon Tucci took these FABULOUS pictures and truly captured how gorgeous everything was. All the little details came together from the amazing flowers provided my Raining Roses, the cupcake tower from Sweet!, the cute cat and dog cookie favors from the Cookie Cousins to all the linens and lighting.

The whole day was simply amazing and Weddings Unique wishes all the best to Rob and Geneva!

This wedding was just fabulous! Shannon and Eric got married back on February 7th in Winter Park. These pictures, taken by Paul Johnson Photography, are just too amazing not to share.

They exchanged their wedding vows at the First United Methodist Church and after the short and sweet ceremony, their guests were invited to take a scenic boat ride to the Winter Park Racquet Club. The beautiful floral was designed by Raining Roses and lighting provided by American Audio Visual. The weather was pretty chilly but that didn't stop the guests from celebrating the night away on the dance floor set up over the outdoor pool grooving to the tunes of DJ Scott Messina.

This ultra chic and talented couple are so creative and it showed in all the details of their day. Eric and Shannon own their own production company called Zombieduck where they produce music videos. In fact, one of the bands they did a video for actually performed at their reception! Moonbabies traveled all the way from Sweden to play their songs for the amazing couple. They also own their own art gallery called Bold Hype.

Each year top professionals from the events industry meet to share ideas and creativity at The Special Event Show. This year I traveled to sunny San Diego, California to attend. It was inspiring to network with top industry experts about their businesses and how they are adapting to the current market.

It wasn't all business, the always much anticipated Wedding Luncheon was amazing with Carley Roney from The Knot speaking. I came back with soooo many ideas.

It was great to see friends I haven't talked to in a while like Sasha Souza, Bill Whiddon from Ice Magic, Sean DeFreitas, Marvellous Mark among many others.

The restaurants! Brett of Brett Culp Films (formerly CVP Experience)and Andy Kushner of Sound Connection and I enjoyed a 9 course meal from Nobu a popular hotspot. Brett is in food heaven!

Pearl Beach Paperie

It's always a day at the beach with Darcy Sang of Pearl Beach Paperie. This paper diva is definitely someone you need to know if you have a special event that requires a special way of announcing it. Her company Pearl Beach Paperie offers custom printing for business and social engagements and her products are fabulous. We had the honor of meeting with Darcy not too long ago and asked her a few questions about her company.

How did you come up with your company name and what’s the significance of it?
The name came pretty easily to me. "Pearl" is named after my paternal grandmother's English name. It is also part of my Chinese name, which translates to Silver Pearl. "Beach" comes from loving the feeling that being at the beach can give you - a sense of calm, fun and surrounded by friends. I hope to create the same sort of environment in my client meetings (without the sunburn). "Paperie" came into play because no one was going to know what kind of a business "Pearl Beach" is without another describing words...plus it rolled off the tongue nicely. When I called my sister to see what she thought of the name, she told me the place where she and my brother-in-law honeymooned was at Pearl Beach in Bora Bora. I had no idea that such a place existed, but all seemed like it was meant to be. Pearl Beach Paperie was born!

What’s your background and how did you get started with your business?
Funny enough, my background is in film in television. I worked in the entertainment field for ten years before I decided that I desired a new path in life. I was actually introduced to the world of printing about the same time that I started working in film. My mom bought a printing franchise that I helped out from time to time throughout high school and college. I even worked in the family business for a couple of years full-time. While I learned the ins and outs of printing, paper and design, my love for fine stationery grew on me over the years. Then the light finally went on, I could put my film producing skills to the test using my business and creative skills to start my own business.

What’s your style and or business philosophy?
I believe that every event deserves a great announcement. I get such great joy in helping people bring luxurious paper into their lives, whether that is creating the perfect invitation for your wedding, picking out personal stationery to keep in touch with friends or choosing the best way to announce your newborn. I love being a small part in peoples’ happiest events in their lives.

How can clients get a hold of you and where can we find your products?

What is the most rewarding aspect of what you do?
I know I mentioned a few things above, but one thing that I truly love is when I hear from a client months after I have worked with them to create their wedding invitations to share their wedding day photos with me. It puts a smile on my face that they remembered me after months have passed. I feel a connection with all my clients and it is rewarding to think that they share that feeling enough with me to share such sweet memories.

What makes you different from your competition?
I feel like my personal service sets me apart. I consider myself a mobile boutique. By that, I mean, that I come to them. We meet over coffee in a relaxed atmosphere and chat about what they are looking for…it’s not a pressure sales environment, there is no one kicking them out of the chair at a certain time…just a couple of friends hanging out drinking coffee.

On another front, there is a reason that I incorporated the word “Beach” into my business name. #1 so that I have an excuse to wear flip-flops 365 days out of the year and #2 because I consider the beach to be a peaceful and relaxing place that people enjoy being with their friends and family. That is my goal – to have a positive and relaxing time hanging out with my clients, just as you would with your friends for a day at the beach. There should be no stress and you should leave the meeting not only a caffeine high, but high on life.

What is your definition of success?
Good question! Success is when I receive a letter from a client thanking me for my assistance, how thrilled they were with their experience and the end result. Success is creating a friendship from a working relationship. Success is being happy with the choices I have made in my life and learning from my mistakes. I’d be a fool to say that financial success is not important because I am a businesswoman after all, but the personal gain is so much greater!

Who or what are your inspirations?
I am inspired every day! A beautiful bouquet of flowers, rain gushing from a swollen gutter, a photograph that can stop you in your tracks, an ornate fabric, a dog chasing a Frisbee or the moon casting shadows…anything and everything can be inspirational…you just have to open your mind and eyes to it. Personally, I would have to say that the women in my family inspire me as well. They are so strong and have persevered so much in their lives and still manage to see a ray of sunshine through it all. There are always those days where you need the sun to shine through to see the rainbow.

Anything else you want to add:
I don’t advertise. I rely on word of mouth and am thankful that so many people have been incredibly generous to me. This has allowed me to continue down my passionate path of paper.

The November 1st wedding of Marlo and Barry was simply sophisticated and chic with their red and black motif. The floral decor provided by Greenery Productions boasted blood-red roses and soft candle light to create the romantic setting that was timeless and classic. They shared their vows at St. James Catholic Church and continued the celebration at Isleworth Country Club.

With the holiday season approaching, create an environment where warmth, calm and hospitality are felt by all.

Here are some great tips and ideas for hosting a fun and memorable cocktail and dinner party.

When guests arrive, greet them with a specialty cocktail in a pretty flute or a fun glass. It's a great way to get the party started.

Place colorful pillows all around the house. If your party is large, guests will happily grab one and take a comfortable seat.

For menu cards and table cards, use fresh fruit or ornaments to hold the cards at each place setting.

Guests will marvel at your creativity when you take elements of nature and use them in your centerpieces. Mix branches, leaves, fruit and fresh flowers for a nature-inspired setting. You can also nestle candles in to give it a soft flow.

Liza and John's St. Augustine Nuptials

This video is awesome! Kudos to the videographers at First Sight Pictures for creating an amazing "preview" video of Liza and John's October 11th wedding in historic St. Augustine, Florida.

There was such an overwhelming sense of love and happiness shared with everyone that you couldn't help but feel part of the family. The day before the wedding Liza's parents had lovingly welcomed guests at their award-winning Victorian bed and breakfast Cedar House Inn where they hosted the welcome dinner.

After exchaning vows at the Cathedral Basilica, the celebration continued across the street at Casa Monica. One of the best parts of being a wedding planner is revealing the reception room to the couple. I love when the jaws drop and the eyes widen... all the hard work pays off at that very moment. Many thanks to Glenn Certain Studio who created such an amazing room. It couldn't have looked more beautiful.

Some of us have had the dreadful and disappointing experience of postponing a wedding due to hurricanes. Those of us in Florida and most of the Southeast region are all too familiar... Remember Charlie and friends?

Despite an impending storm, Brides and Grooms may want to proceed with their plans and keep their fingers crossed. Others prefer to stay on the safe side and postpone.

The summer of 2006 one of my brides cancelled twice!!! The third time she decided whatever happened happened and the unlikely did. The wedding was at the Gaylord Palms and as the hurricane stormed overhead and made the ballroom rumble, the party went on. Luckily for us the hotel was the headquarters for Florida Power and we continued to have lights and air conditioning despite the rest of Orlando.

It has been our experience that most hotels and vendors are flexible under these conditions, but economic times being what they are now, the non-refundable contracts may be firm.

I can’t say enough about taking out an insurance policy for your wedding. It is so much money to spend in hopes nothing will go wrong. Recently a client’s father became ill and the wedding was postponed a few weeks out. The insurance covered all the expenses. What a relief in difficult times.

Pretty In Pink - The Wedding of Mimi and Robert

I recently got pictures back from a wedding that I did in February and I am so excited to share these with you. Damon Tucci of Damon Tucci Studios did a phenomenal job capturing Mimi and Robert's Ritz-Carlton wedding.

It truly takes a village to create an affair this spectacular. We had the best of the best working together to produce an event that WOW-ed all the guests. Many thanks to the Grande Lakes Ritz-Carlton, Raining Roses, Kirby Rentals, Room Service, Nuage, BBJ, CVP, Aisle Art, About Face, Absolutely Fitting, Super Sitters and The Paper Shop.

Scott Messina and Nova Era provided the music to get the party started.

The cake was just too pretty to eat! Bake Me a Cake truly out-did themselves with this 6-tiered wedding cake. And if this doesn't amaze you, take a look at the Groom's Frog Prince cake below.

The candy station added another sweet element as guests were encouraged to take home a box of the couple's favorite candy.

Millie Harris of "The Collection", a bridal boutique in Winter Park, Florida, confirms that with ornate embellishments and bolder colors this year's bride is not afraid to select a heart-stopping look that will keep her friends talking for years!

So if you're fierce and fabulous and intent on taking a risk with your wedding gown, heed this advice:

Do trendy with a nod of timeless style - remember that photos and video tell the story for years to come.
Keep your 'audience' in mind as showing too much skin can offend. Choose fashion that features just one noticeable area, like a daring decolletage bearing neckline.
Accessories can sometimes seduce - Sexy stilettos or earrings that brush your collar bone can elongate and draw attention to all the right places.
Always get a second opinion - If you don't have a fashion forward friend who will tell you the truth, have someone photograph you in the gown so you can judge for yourself. (Keep in mind that bridal boutiques won't allow you to take shots of the dress before you purchase, so use an old-fashioned Polaroid and let your sales attendant discard it before you leave.)
